If you’re a C-suite executive, CIO, CISO, IT security professional, engineer, or developer, then this podcast speaks to you.
“Application security is one of the most misunderstood disclipines in our field,” says Steve Morgan, founder of Cybersecurity Ventures, and editor-in-chief at Cybercrime Magazine. “I’ve listened to the first few episodes of Appsec In A Minute, and each one is jam-packed with great insights and advice for our audience.”
What can you do right now to prevent data breaches? We’ll be releasing episodes every two weeks to tell you.
Appsec In A Minute is recorded at Cybercrime Magazine’s Studios, located in historic Northport, N.Y. The small seaside village has been home to writer Jack Kerouac — author of the famous novel “On The Road” — and the backdrop for big-screen motion pictures, indie films, and TV shows. Our team of hosts, writers, editors, and content specialists produce cybersecurity podcasts on the second floor of the Brush Building on Main Street — built in 1925 and renovated in 2017 — which is steps away from Northport Harbor.
Appsec In A Minute Host
Dr. Anita D’Amico took on the role of CEO of Code Dx, Inc. after it was spun out from Applied Visions, Inc. (AVI). She refers to herself as “a starter-upper” who develops a vision and fuels it with the energy, communication, and leadership needed to make that vision a reality.
Anita created the Secure Decisions division of Applied Visions, Inc. in 2000, to develop new technologies to enhance cyber situational awareness, and built it into a recognized leader in government-sponsored cybersecurity research. The technologies that now comprise Code Dx were originally developed by Secure Decisions under Anita’s leadership.
Although Anita has worked for more than 20 years in the cybersecurity domain — starting as the head of Northrop Grumman’s first Information Warfare team — her background is different from most. She is a human factors psychologist, a specialist in cybersecurity situational awareness, and a security researcher. Anita is an expert in how security decisions are made, and takes on the user’s rather than the engineer’s perspective.
A recent Forbes article named Anita D’Amico as one of “five cool women in security” who serve as role models for young women entering the field.

Code Dx, Inc. was founded on the principle that application vulnerability management should be an integral part of the software development process, and we know that can only happen if it is convenient and logical. Our goal is to help developers and security professionals make their software as secure as possible, using an integrated collection of open-source and commercial tools.
From our headquarters on the north shore of Long Island, in a small village that once built wooden ships to withstand the dangers of fishing in the North Atlantic, we are focused on helping developers build and launch applications that can safely brave the hazardous waters of the internet.
