Cybersecurity Ventures estimates that Cybercrime will cost the world $12.2 trillion annually by 2031, up from $10.5 trillion in 2025, making it a major global economic driver.

The difficulty facing firms in 2026 is not whether to invest in Cybersecurity, but rather how to integrate it with governance, corporate strategy, and operational continuity, reports Chuck Brooks, a top cybersecurity expert and Forbes contributor.

We are entering a time of hyper-innovation and hyper-risk, according to Brooks. The year 2026 will be defined by acceleration — in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, IoT, biotechnology, and connected infrastructure.

If we get this right, posits Brooks, 2026 won’t be remembered as the year of digital chaos — It will be remembered as the year we secured the future.
