Cybersecurity For SMBs: Huge Market Opportunity for MSPs

Cybercrime is rising and SMBs rely on MSPs to provide the security tools and services they can’t staff or build themselves,” Bill Campbell, CEO of Waldorf, Md.-based MSP BalanceLogic, which is on the 2025 CRN MSP Pioneer 250 list, told CRN.

Cybercrime will hit $10.5 trillion this year,” Manny Rivelo, CEO of ConnectWise said during his keynote at the company’s recent IT Nation Secure event, referencing a report from Cybersecurity Ventures.

“It’s simple, when the threats increase, the value of the defenders skyrockets,” Campbell noted.

There are 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs worldwide, according to Cybersecurity Ventures, which Rivelo said underscores both the demand and the opportunity for jobs in the industry.

Rivelo pointed out that the global market for managed services stands at $5.4 trillion, with 44 percent of that tied to the SMB market. Clearly there is also demand and opportunity for MSPs who know cybersecurity.

Coincidentally, The Hacker News reported that ConnectWise was the victim of a cyberattack late last month.
