19 May Young Girls Are The Future Of Cybersecurity
This week in cybersecurity from the editors at Cybercrime Magazine
Sausalito, Calif. – May. 19, 2026
Betta Lyon Delsordo told Cybercrime Magazine that her journey into ethical hacking began at 13, in Montana, when she taught herself to code,
After earning a degree in Computer Science, she pursued a Master’s in Cybersecurity at Georgia Tech and completed numerous certifications through an NSA grant. Betta went on to specialize in application security penetration testing, with a focus on web, cloud, and AI hacking. She is currently a penetration tester for AWS in Italy.
Beyond Betta’s technical pursuits, she is deeply committed to mentoring underrepresented groups in cybersecurity.
Betta is an active member of Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), Women in Security and Privacy (WISP), and Rewriting the Code (RTC). Through these organizations, she has hosted talks, organized local meetups, and volunteered at conferences to promote greater diversity in cybersecurity.
Her advocacy has been recognized with awards and scholarships from (ISC)², FS-ISAC, the NSA, the Infosec Institute, ESET, WISP, WiCyS, and more. To Betta, hacking is a superpower that can be used for good or evil, and she’s dedicated to ensuring that more women and underrepresented groups can harness that power to protect humanity.
Listen to Betta and you’ll understand why young girls are the future of cybersecurity.
