Reports of a major slowdown in Cybersecurity VC deal flow are way off base when you examine Q1 2024, according to Steve Morgan, founder of Cybersecurity Ventures and editor-in-chief at Cybercrime Magazine.

“Cybersecurity companies who each raised $100M or more in Q1 — Coro, Nozomi Networks, Claroty, Axonius (who raised $200M), Bugcrowd, NinjaOne (they raised over $230M), Silverfort, and ExtraHop,” says Morgan. “That’s a billion dollars right there, not to mention a $300M raise by Cyera to kick off Q2.”

Morgan notes that Q1 2024 also saw a healthy dose of $50M+ investments into cybersecurity companies.

Richard Seewald, founder and managing partner at Evolution Equity Partners, one of the most respected names in the cybersecurity VC community, joined Morgan on the Cybercrime Magazine Podcast. Seewald’s firm led or participated in numerous deals to kick off the year — including Phosphorus Cybersecurity, Aqua Security, Oleria, Torq, and Sweet Security.

“We aren’t breaking cybersecurity VC investing records in 2024, but this is still a burgeoning market,” adds Morgan.
