Cybersecurity Ventures recently asked AI “Why use YouTube for marketing?” and it replied “YouTube is a powerful marketing tool because of its vast user base, high engagement rates with video content, and ability to boost brand awareness, drive traffic, and build trust through educational and engaging content, all while leveraging the power of Google’s search engine.”
Case in point: If a CISO, IT leader, journalist, or anyone else making the pilgrimage to this year’s RSA Conference 2025, wants to know how much ransomware costs before grilling exhibitors on the topic, then they’re likely to do a Google search on “ransomware cost” to find the answer.
Earlier this month, Cybercrime Magazine released a one-minute video “Global Ransomware Damage Costs Predicted To Hit $57 Billion Annually In 2025” and within a week, a Google search on “ransomware cost” shows the video on the first page results with a clickable thumbnail image and a play button. That video had more than 500,000 views after a week, and by the time anyone reads this blog post on the RSAC Conference site, it should eclipse one million views.
