10 May Cyber Investing Summit: Out Of The Shadows And Into The Spotlight

Cyber attacks have been occurring for decades. For years, spy novels and movies have portrayed these nefarious acts as something that is being solved by our national and local security forces; out of sight, out of mind. In recent years, ransomware and data theft have made us all feel vulnerable and more connected to the potential risks of cyber aggression. HISTORICALLY, financial gain has been something only available to successful bad actors. TODAY, the growing risk of cyber attacks has motivated some of the smartest minds in technology and security to develop new solutions and technologies to detect, prevent and recover from these potential threats.
Like most industries, cybersecurity is one part innovation, one part sophistication, and one part financial dedication. Void of any of these three ingredients, the cybersecurity industry would wither on the vine.
Having sponsored the world’s first cybersecurity-focused exchange traded fund (ETF) in 2014, I was shocked by the lack of investment information available regarding this critical industry. Despite thousands of cybersecurity conferences occurring around the world every year, none of them focused on the investing opportunities. Not only was this disappointing for POTENTIAL investors but unfortunate for cybersecurity companies with goals of maximizing shareholder value and growth.
With this in mind, in 2016, the Annual Cyber Investing Summit was born. This is a critical event for the cybersecurity industry that will continue to grow with the support of large diversified technology/defense companies, pure-play cybersecurity companies, and the broader investment community. In addition to cybersecurity companies, the Cyber Investing Summit is heavily attended by investors from across the public and private spectrum (hedge funds, family offices, PE, VC, analysts, bankers, high net worth individuals, etc.) as well as many influential players from the media. This event is not only timely, educational, entertaining, and worthwhile, but it is essential for the ongoing growth of the hyper-important cybersecurity industry.
